High Liner Foods Donates 160,000 Meals to Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts
DANVERS, Mass. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - High Liner Foods (TSX: HLF), the leading value-added seafood supplier in North America, has donated the equivalent of 160,000 meals to families who continue to be affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The company has donated thousands of pounds of frozen seafood products from across High Liner's retail and foodservice businesses to the Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) to assist with relief efforts. FBSJ has experienced an increased call for food due to Hurricane Sandy, plus a reduction in its federal food allotment, making donations all the more critical.
"The devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy cannot be overstated and we are committed to helping those affected however we are able," said Keith Decker, President and Chief Operating Officer of High Liner Foods (USA) Inc. "We are proud to partner with the Food Bank of South Jersey, whose admirable work helps nearly 175,000 families per year, in addition to the support they are providing those affected by Sandy."
